Atlantis Marine World, New York

Atlantis Marine World on New York's Long Island offers a "Shark Dive" - an experience that puts divers nose to nose with some of the ocean's top predators inside the 120,000-gallon "Lost City of Atlantis Shark Exhibit." No diving certification is necessary, and a trained divemaster accompanies all participants (must be 12 or older; ages 12-17 must be accompanied by parent/guardian). Shark Dive participants are provided with everything necessary for their dive, including wet suit, scuba gear and dive mask.

Each Shark Dive adventure consists of an educational program about sharks, a scuba lesson and safety briefing, and the dive itself. Also included are aquarium admission, souvenir towel, souvenir shark tooth from the exhibit and photograph of your dive. All participants must sign and return a liability waiver prior to their dive.

Fees: $140 for members and $155 for nonmembers plus tax on equipment. The fee includes aquarium admission.

Open:
Daily sessions at 11 a.m., and limited to eight participants.
