Crooked Creek Lake , Pennsylvania


Nestled among the rolling hills of western Pennsylvania , Crooked Creek Lake is a popular spot for year-round outdoor activities including diving. About 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Pittsburgh, the 400-acre lake is maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is equipped with a boat launch and ample trailer parking for those who want to bring a boat. Diving is permitted in limited areas of the lake and a dive flag is required. Guests should check in at the park office before entering the water.

Depths to: Average depth is about 15 feet (5 m).

Visibility: 5-15 feet (3-5 m).

Water temperature: A dry suit is recommended in the winter months.

Aquatic life: Bass, muskie, sunfish and crappie.

Fees: $4 per day; annual passes are available for $30.

On-site amenities: Several picnic areas with tables and charcoal grills, restrooms.
