Inks Lake, Texas

Formed as a reservoir in 1938, Inks Lake is part of a bigger state park by the same name, which consists of 1,201 acres (480 hectares) along the Colorado River in Burnet County. The park, about an hour's drive northwest of Austin, is a panorama of cedar and oak woodlands, wildflowers, and pink granite outcroppings in the Central Texas Hill Country. The same geological allure above water extends to below the surface where rock formations provide the main attraction for divers. The water remains at a constant level year-round. Divers should bring their own air.
