Ledges Quarry Park, Ohio
Many
shelves, rock formations, large fresh-water fish and plant life, and cabin
cruisers await divers in this quarry first mined in the 1940s and filled
with water when miners hit a spring sometime in the 1950s. There are also a
couple of bottom trenches that run 60-70 feet (18-21 m) deep. The largest is
called "The Abyss."
Besides being a
destination for nature activities below and above the water, the park is
host to several outdoor music concerts. This year’s lineup includes the
annual celebration of the Grateful Dead, called "Grateful Fest,"
plus a "Celebration of Pink Floyd." This year events are planned
from April to September.

than 25 feet (8 m) on a clear day.
Water
temperature: Varies with the season but in the summer warms to air
temperature.
Aquatic life:
Bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish and freshwater jellyfish.
Fees: Admission
for people 16 and older is $5 weekdays and on weekends. Children 15 and
younger are admitted for $2.50. Camping rates are $10 per adult; kids 15 and
younger with a parent are admitted for $5. Family and group rates are
available.

amenities: Picnic areas, grills, new playground area, 250 acres for hiking
and biking, restrooms, basketball court, volleyball court, a swimming beach,
and a covered stage that doubles as a pavilion for gatherings.

Getting there:
From Interstate 80 in northeast Ohio, take Exit 193 and drive north on State
Route 44 to State Route 82. Drive east on Route 82. It turns into State
Route 305. Turn left on State Route 282 and travel north.
